I learned how to make this from my ex-mother-in-law.
It has been a family favorite.
Ingredients
Cooking time - 45 minutes - 1 hour
Enough pastry to make a two crust pie
1 pound of hamburger
Four potatoes sliced thin
1 Onion sliced thin
salt and pepper
This recipe is so simple, all you do is place your
pastry in a 9" pie tin. Layer the bottom with crumbled hamburger
(uncooked), then a layer of potato slices, then our onion slices.
Salt and pepper layer and repeat for a total of two layers. Cover
with the top pastry shell, make holes for venting and bake for 45 minutes
to one hour until fork inserted in pie tells you the potatoes are tender.
Slice and serve.
My family likes to smother their pasty with ketsup.
This recipe is good for a group of four. For more eaters I recommend
using a 9 x 12 cake pan. It is a bit crazy to flute the crust but it
works. Doing it that way, you may need to add an additional layer.
Pasty is also great the next day.
