This page is dedicated to the one holiday of the year that makes us step back and give thanks and gratitude for the many blessings that have been bestowed upon us.

Thanksgiving in Georgia is a celebration of giving thanks to our Lord and to each other for the bountiful blessings given during the past year. Past times and traditions from Georgia's early settlers can still be witnessed in the modern kitchens of today's homes.

I am thankful for so many things but top on my list is my wonderful husband John and my two sons Ken and Kevin and their beautiful spouses Elizabeth and Alejandra.  My precious grandson Payton who brings a smile to my face everyday of the year and my wonderful parents and siblings.

I am thankful for my many many friends on the net that I have made through groups I have had the pleasure to belong to but mostly to my extended family of Circle of Style who have shown me the true meaning of Thanksgiving with their sharing, caring and giving.  I love you all so much.

Here are a couple of my favorite Thanksgiving recipes

***********************

Scalloped Corn

This recipe is a definate family favorite.  It feeds 6-8 but can be doubled for a large family gathering

2 cans creamed corn
2 eggs
1/4 cup milk
1 package of saltine crackers

In a pyrex or corning ware baking dish crumble about 10-15 crackers (enough to cover the bottom)   pour 1  1/2 cans of the creamed corn over crackers.  Crack the eggs into the can with the remaining corn and add the milk.  Mix well.  Pour over crackers and corn and gently mix to distribute the corn, egg and milk mixture.  Crust remaining crackers over the top to form a sealed layer.

Bake in over 45 minutes to an hour.  Let set 5 minutes before serving.

Lettuce and Banana Salad

Ya gotta try this one.

Chop lettuce in salad bowl, enough for your guests.  Add to that banana slices (about three bananas per 6 guests),  add miniature marshmellows.  In small bowl mix mayonaise, some sugar to sweeten and a touch of milk.  Mix sauce well and toss into salad.

Here's some fun games to play on Thanksgiving

         Corn Pitching
Use dried beans if you prefer.
You will need a good sized bowl and 6 kernels of corn (the kind used in               bird feeders works better than popcorn). Each player takes turns               pitching the corn kernels, one at a time, into the bowl from a set               distance. Keep score of how many kernels end up in the bowl. The              winner is the one with the highest score after three rounds.

Cranberry Stringing
Wear old clothes for this one -- cranberries can stain.
Each player will need a needle threaded with an 18-inch length of strong thread. Put a large knot at the end of the thread. Everyone sits around a bowl of cranberries. On the signal, everyone starts stringing the cranberries onto their threads. The first to fill the thread is the winner. You might want to try the game alternating popcorn and cranberries. Hang the completed cranberry strings outside as a treat for the birds

Thanksgiving Dinner
You need a good memory for this one.
The players sit in a circle. The first player starts by saying, "At my Thanksgiving dinner I ate turkey." The next player must repeat this and add another dish, "At my Thanksgiving dinner I ate turkey and bread stuffing." The third player must repeat it and add yet another dish, "At my Thanksgiving dinner I ate turkey, bread stuffing, and sweet potatoes." The game continues with each player adding an item to the menu after first listing all the previous items in the exact order they were first said. If a player makes a mistake he drops out and the game continues until there is just one mnemonic expert left
